My impression

25 06 2007

Well I faced a lot difficulties while I was thinking about it.And about what to write. So i think that it id very good that we are communicatindg via comments. And webblogs. most of all  liked Victorias site.Because there a lot of usefull information. Actually i’m interested in Rakhat Aliev situation. Also if you visit her site u will have u hand on the pulse of events ,Kazakhstany events.

However it is not the only thing that attract me in her site, also she quickly reply to your comments, and give full answer.

It is awesome when you can communicate throught the website or blogs and fined some one with the same interests as your.

And if u can create a coomunity even better . Also I like Sadyk’s site. When I look through it I want to smile .I don’t know why I have such a positive feelings I just have them!!!!(:)

Wikipedia and credibility

25 06 2007

Ok. I like such kind of questions because I like to make research.Firstly I want to write about my experience with wikipedia.I don’t know why but I love this source of information.

Yeah I know sometimes information there can be far from neutrality ,or even  can contain some kind of mistakes but, they  are writing about it  they warning  you. And thats why to some extend they are credible and reliable. We have Russian saying that if you warned you are armed.

But once I made a mistake I rely to the information on wikipedia website while I was writing paper .And I havent check it anywhere else.

So have minus 3 points. Because Moldova have Parliamentary system not Presidential. It was previous semester !

Funny thing about that is  that they already fixed this mistake.

Also what i like there that you can add something or just edit, and for this purpose shouldn’t be an expert,or a scientist!!!!(:)

While I was searching in google I find sime interesting opinions of common ,plain people .

One of them I like most of all ,one guy was complaining that Wikipedia don’t give him a permission to edit .

And one  site and opinion which to my mind should be observed. There you can find some controversial facts.

RSF

19 06 2007

So I choose Reporters Without Borders (RSF),as the site on which I’ll try to make research. Firstly I want to say that  this site promote participation. How can I define the comunity of the site?Easily just look to the name of the site.It is screaming journalist of the world unite against tyrany ,political unfairness, against jails against death for those ones who just showing the truth!!!

And not only journalist ,even plain people.

this site presents itself as an organization which is fightint with censorship ,also it measuresthe situation with freedom of the spech . And they make their own index of freedom of  the spech or press freedom in country and also makes annual report to each country. An define countryies as free or not.It is pity that according to their ranking Kz get 128 place.

As far as it is mostly for journalist ,when i open their blogs i find very interesting links . They have such links in one blog as Michael Moor,Human rights watch etc. And i like the name of this blog inside of  RSF ,Singabloodypore.

This site is mostly informative,I dont think that it is participatory. But  alot of journalist work for and communicate with the organization. also a lot of rural journalist from CIS connected wiyh them.Nevertheless if you want you can make a blog and leave a comment or discusson or another article I mean in u blog.

I dont think that they are promoting open conversation,or maybe i just don’t see it.

What i like most of all is the quality of information.and that it is easy to find the material because it devided like Africa or Europe and you can just clikc.

What I dont like about this site that it is ranking countries gives names such as free or not,so I think it should be private. But few month ago I was informed that they are somehow sponcored by CIA. And this is french non gov org???? What is happening with this world. They should be free from this kind of sponcorship or it can’t be defined as non objective one.

Community to which I belong?

12 06 2007

I never think about this brfore. If community means  a group of people with common interest, then I can say that me and my friends like to listen Rock music, and Brit pop .We like the same groups.it is pity that here in Almaty we don’t have even CD’s of our favourite singers.

What else?

May be photo?! I like to make photo. And I have lots of friend who likes it too.But to tell the truth it is not look as professional. But still we are learning. We can make 100 of photos but if 1 or 2 of this 100 will be professional ,it is a succses!!!!!!!!!!

Hard news Story – UNT

8 06 2007

This story was written by our group for NMJ course. I think it is very interesting topict to disscus. Also ot is very actual.Researches was made few days ago. I will be very glad if u will find story interesting. Please leave u comments(:)

UNT: brand new horror for school graduates.

The 18-year-old Marina says she is “freaking” unsure about upcoming Unified National Test (UNT). “I think it’s not fair to musicians, sportsmen, journalists, artists to write UNT because Mathematics and fourth subject are not relevant to their future careers.” Marina will take part in complex testing, which will be held from 10th to 15th of June.

The main question about impending examination today is who will pass and who will fail; because the minimum points you must get to enter the university has increased on 20%. A lot of pupils will have to make a final step into mature life by passing UNT and entering university.

140,000 other school graduates will join Marina in what ought to be decisive point to their future life. Up to the year of 2005 the entrance rate at UNT was 40 points out of 120. In 2006 the entrance rate was changed to 50 points and this year it finally reached 60. According to Kamet Nagimbek, Head of UNT Center, 14% of all school graduates did not take part in complex testing and 25% failed to reach minimum entrance rate. However, in 2006, only 130-140 students did not pass the UNT, even though the minimum was raised to 50 points, claimed Mr. Nagimbek. When he was asked about the probability of large number of those who will not pass over 60 points, he said: “Even if my daughter will not pass UNT, it is not a problem, she can be a cleaner or whatever.”

Kamet Nagimbek admitted that there were cases when his friends contacted him to get the answers for their children, but he quickly adds that the system does not give an opportunity to do so even if he desired that. “Even the children of bureaucrats and ministers are not always passing the UNT,” he said, “There was even a case when the son of one university head master did not pass UNT, while the daughter of this university’s cleaner got the scholarship to this university.” He also mentioned that the transparency of UNT is always under control of “commissions that come from everywhere.”

“I hate UNT,” said Turar Begizbayev, 2007 school graduate, “Honestly, when you are just 18 years old all your future might depend on it.” When he was 17 had to choose the subject that according to his words would have a big influence on his career. Now, he is not sure in the accuracy of his choice. Moreover, he claims that there is no any systematic way of giving knowledge. “I know a lot of people who are simply memorizing questionnaire answers preferring them to books.”

The only alternative for complex testing is oral examination. In Kamet Nagimbek’s opinion the oral examination is not good. “Students can run up on a very biased examiner, who probably may dislike his eyes color, his hairstyle, gender, name. Sometimes smart pupils can have a bad smell and examiners might dislike it.”

Marika Georgiadi, a member of Admission Center at Kazakhstan Institute of Management, Economics, and Strategic Research (KIMEP), says that the Institute administration does not care about the UNT results in a whole. But she added that if a student will not get an optimal number of points from profile subject they will not accept him or her, even if the overall result of UNT is much higher than 60 points. For example, BSc applicants must get a minimum of 18 points from mathematics on complex testing.

The tension is rising as the UNT gets near and near. In one of Almaty districts about five pupils from one class did not get 60 points from trial testing. Marina V. and Tina, girlfriends of Marina, are very scared about upcoming complex testing and feel very unconfident about the future. Tina scored 66 points on trial testing, but she thinks it is not enough to be sure about the results of examination. Marina herself scored 53 points and spent four hours on it. The only opportunity for her to enter the university if she fails UNT is to go to Almaty branches of Russian Universities. “I am very scared.”

What is Journalism?!

8 06 2007

For me joiurnalism is a style of life. Journalism is a very usefull profession. U are always informing the people. What is journalism, maybe it is a heroism. They always investigate ans show all hidden things(watchdogs). Journalists are fighting for our rights to know the truth.

It is a big power and it is very pity that sometimes it is manipulated by government or by owners such as Murdoch.

Journalism is a big power because it has a great impact on peoples mind. And people as well can be manipulated by journalism.as in America after 9\11 when they started  black propoganda against Iraq.

Journalism it is as well everything about propoganda:black and grey.

Internet as a source of news.

8 06 2007

Journalist is the person who always keeps his hand on the pulse of events.Thats way he or she should be informed about everything.Questions araise how to make it,when u are busy and plenty of your time goes for investigation, interviews, writing. There is only one possible answer -Internet.It won’t take much  time just to go throught some news web sides.

I’m student and I don’t have opportunity to visit entire world at my age,but I’m not upset. I can follow G8,or situation in Belgrad  or in Turkey etc via Internet

Internet is a very good news source. Espesially if we know that newspapers are available not for everyone.Ther are small districts, where newspapers are not sailed I mean auls(small villages) The same situation in Moldova. Everything is available in  Chisinou capital city of Moldova but in small towns it is problematic.

Now internet is a part of me.I don’t by newspapers.Or make it in rare cases.but I have a habbit to check everydays news in BBC,AFP,AP.

What I like most of all in internet thre are a lot of sources Western,(American and European),Chinees,Russian. So u can read the same story from BBC than go to Itartass or Interfax and to Radio liberty and to some others. So when u read from several sources one story u will see it from different angles.

Sometimes western media can be biast and it’s not a problem go to Russian one.I don’t know how to explain it. Or one more example ,u can  go to Reporters sans frontieres and look to u country freedom index.

In conclusion I want to say that Internet gives as a lot of information and opportunities.

Internet vs TV & RADIO

7 06 2007

I  think internet differs a lot from other sourses of print media . For example print media go onse a week ore 3 times a week. And Internet inform better. You just go to internet and search for some kind of news. Than you look to the news from several sources. We are living in Kz but in inet we can read for free NYT,WP and other. Also we can read a blogs of different people without an editing of others. So there are clear thoughts of people,or eye-witness of different  event.

And it is so fast.

I won’t listen radio at the midnigh waiting for news. Or won’t wait till tomorrow to buy Newspaper.Internet is the good solution not only for audience and to joiurnalist as well.Because journalist need to observe what is going on  ,and inet give as such opportunity.

About Murdoch an opportunity of gathering with Bancroft Family

5 06 2007

I’m very interested in this situation, and how will it ends! To my mind it isn’t  a good opportunity for Bancrofts. Whole family are workink in that business. Why they want to sell it? It will be very pity, espesially if it is widely known that Murdoch like to Edit everything. Just to look to his broadcasting empire,we’ll see that his  media are always biest and not neutral. To my mind it’s stupidity when one person own so much in terms of media:channels, newspapers, radio. That person became very powerfull and affect peoples mind.

 wall street journal will change!!!

I was very upset when yesterday in Euronews I heard that Bancrofts are likely to agree.
